I'm generally a person who likes to be know by what I stand for not by what I fight against. There is so much anger towards President Trump because of some of his comments about certain groups of people. There is a fear that he will inflict these hateful ideas on people and remove previously established rights. On top of it, I believe his single minded thinking makes many of the very extreme racists, sexist, and bigots more empowered to act out in terrible ways against our own fellow Americans. He is far from being a leader I'm proud of but, when I see so many people fight against him I wonder... Where were you when when our past president voted several times against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which would force abortionists to provide life-saving care to babies who survived abortions? Why were you silent when he vetoed a bill that would have restricted late-term abortions? Where were you when he forced you, me, and our church's to pay for the killing of hundreds of thousands of lives? Why weren't you marching in the streets? Why were you silent?
People all around our country will be hurt because of the election of Donald Trump but thousands of lives will be saved. If I as an adult woman have to suffer injustice under a sexist leader I will do it in order to keep out a leader who would kill the most innocent and vulnerable of all.
Now how do we react? I suppose some people were called to fight, I just don't see a solution in that. For me, I hate abortion, but I don't fight Dr.'s and women and lawmakers. I don't protest. I don't shame. If I feel hate, I act in love. I love on moms who are in need of support. I offer help and free resources to families who don't think they have any other way out. My encouragement to everyone is... If you hate Trumps attitude towards women and immigrants or anything else, don't yell in the streets, love each other better. Help each other more. He can't do to us what we can't do for ourselves. Embrace one another despite everything pulling us apart and know, always know, this life is short.... We're here for a greater purpose than ourselves.
